Science and Technology Project Sponsorship Program

• Creating world-class research projects and technological solutions that bring practical benefits to the community.
• Building a team of young and dynamic scientists and intellectuals.
• Creating favorable conditions for scientists to promote their research and innovation abilities, thereby contributing to changing the research environment and style in Vietnam.
• Building an ecosystem to promote applied research and connect researchers, research institutes, universities and businesses.

• The lead organization is a science and technology organization (university, research institute, hospital, …) in Vietnam; have full legal status; has the function of scientific and technological research, operating in accordance with the research field of the Project; have sufficient conditions in terms of human resources, equipment and facilities for the effective implementation of the Project.
• Each Project has 01 (one) Principal Investigator (PI) and maximum 01 (one) Co-PI (if any) with expertise relevant to the research content of the Project; have a doctoral degree or higher; have at least 03 (three) research results in a major relevant to the research field of the Project; have at least 03 (three) research results published in reputable international journals or are the author of at least 01 (one) invention or utility solution in the period of 05 (five) years up to time of application submission; be able to directly organize the implementation and ensure enough time to preside over the research work of the Project; spend at least 30% of working time to implement the Project.
• The senior members of the Project must have expertise relevant to the research content of the Project; have a doctoral degree or higher; spend at least 30% of working time to implement the Project.
• The inbound and outbound experts implementing the Project are those who have outstanding experience and knowledge in the research field of the Project.
• Members and other relevant individuals of the Project must have qualifications and skills relevant to the Project’s research area.

The program supports projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering, medicine, economics and education. For other fields, VINIF will consider projects that are truly breakthroughs and have a great impact on society.

The project output should meet at least one of the following requirements:

• Having an article published in an international journal ranked Q1 (according to the list of journals proposed by the PI and approved by VINIF) or a rank A/A* conference paper;
• Products, services and solutions with practical benefits to the community;
• Acceptance of intellectual property applications;
• Training masters and supporting doctoral training in the country.

As a Non-profit organization, VINIF aims towards encouraging the development of science and technology for Vietnam. The PI, research group and host organization will retain all intellectual property rights and products, services, solutions, and other research results.

In publications and articles, the authors need to state: “The research is carried out with the Science and Technology Project Sponsorship Program from Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VINIF)”.

VINIF has a flexible and reasonable financial mechanism to provide researchers with the best working conditions, and the simplest administrative procedures. The maximum funding from VINIF is VND 10 billion, however, it is crucial to have a reasonable financial plan and this is one of the most important criteria of VINIF in considering funding. Minimum funding is VND 2 billion.

Sponsorship includes:

• Salary of project members, expenses for hiring inbound and outbound experts;
• Raw materials, fuel, materials, supplies and tools for research;
• Procurement of equipment for research;
• Renting services, leasing offices, renting equipment and systems;
• Travel expenses, seminars, office expenses and administrative expenses directly related to the research.

The host organization must sign a sponsorship agreement with VINIF before receiving the project with a commitment to delegate financial autonomy to the PI, creating favorable conditions in terms of time and working conditions for PI and research team to complete the task. Any individual is not be eligible to receive simultaneously VINIF’s scholarship and remuneration from projects funded by VINIF.

Funding will be disbursed in installments to the host organizations in accordance to the Research Funding Agreement.

• Notice of support program: March, 2024;
• Application Period: Before April 29^th, 2024;
• Evaluation and Selection: May, 2024 to July, 2024;
• Notification of sponsorship result: August, 2024;
• Agreement signing: September, 2024.

1. A project application package consists of 01 (one) set of electronic copy (Word files and signed and sealed PDF files) uploaded to https://oms.vinif.org, including:

• Project application form (Form  VINIF-A-DDK);
• Project Descriptionion in English (Form VINIF-A-TMDA);
• Other relevant documents, if the host organization or PI deems it necessary to enhance the credibility of the application;

2. Projects selected to be considered for funding must submit an additional 01 (one) set of hard documents before signing the sponsorship agreement to the address: Vingroup Innovation Foundation, 9th Floor, Century Tower, Times City, 458 Minh Khai Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
