Objectives:

A project aims to design and implement an Intelligence Artificial (AI) chip based on Spiking Neural Network (SNN) in which a neural model is proposed and applied to the specific SNN. To increase the interconnection and performance of the system, the SNN-based AI chip is  integrated to a multi-core RISC-V CPU and Network-on-Chip architecture.  This System-on-Chip (SoC) also consists of multi-core RISC-V CPU and cryptographic cores to secure the operations of the system. This proposed AI chip can be applied to IoT, AIoT applications such as face recognition, pattern recognition, biomedical applications (PPG detection, skin cancer detection), and so on. This AI chip is designed by Vietnamese researchers. We look forward to contributing to the development of semiconductor and IC design in Vietnam, towards designing chip “Make in Vietnam” and diversifying the Vietnam semiconductor ecosystem.

Impact:

The project has a positive impact on education, science and technology, society and economy. The project contributes to training with a 1 Doctor, 2 Master of Sciences, providing high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductor and IC design in the near future. The IP-core designs and patents in the project aim to commercialize scientific research results, diversify the semiconductor and IC design ecosystem in Vietnam, form high added-value scientific and technological products that contribute to the development of the economy and are also the driving force for socio-economic development. The combination of IC design and artificial intelligence promises to be an interesting field, opening up new research directions and practical applications in Vietnam, in line with the development trends of the semiconductor industry and IC design in Vietnam and the world.
