VINIF.2022.DA00118 – Research, design, manufacture non-destructive testing systems to inspect defects, cracks, discontinuities based on high sensitivity magnetic flux leakage technique integrated with high-tech classification and testing on steel production lines

Urgency:

With the increasing demand of steel pipe production and consumption, it is necessary to research, manufacture and apply advanced detection methods using modern technology instead of manual methods to increase the speed, efficiency and quality of the product for 100% accurate results that do not depend on objective reasons caused by the operator. The magnetic flux leakage measurement method uses a magnetic field measurement sensor that can search, check and detect not only the location but also the size of defects, cracks that are very small in size or located deep inside and thanks to that, timely intervention methods can be implemented. The advantage is that this method is simple, easy to use, compact in size, highly reliable and accurate, integrated with electronic circuits that can be integrated with smart automatic systems without the need for human operation. Self-research and complete mastery of core technology from physics – materials to fully integrated components and equipment, taking advantage of and promoting high-quality domestic human resources to create leakage flux measuring devices with technical specifications equal to or equivalent to imported products at low prices, can be mass produced and provided to domestic industries is a sound and necessary investment.

Objectives:

Research and fully master the core technology to successfully manufacture a sensor to measure leakage flux in a non-destructive method with high sensitivity and accuracy under the Vietnamese brand based on an ultra-sensitive magnetic field sensor integrating smart automatic warning technology to check, detect errors and defects inside iron and steel non-destructively and install, integrate and test equipment systems on the steel pipe production line in the factory steel production to check and detect high-frequency welding errors on steel pipes, warn and mark product classification.

Research tasks:

  • Research theoretical overview, develop ideas and simulate optimal theoretical calculations and research, manufacture and test measurement of leakage flux measuring probe integrating single/array multi-axis sensor system and magnetic field generating part;
  • Research, design and assemble electronic circuits for measuring, processing, converting electrical signals, integrating equipment systems with leakage flux measurement units and data transmission function blocks, display blocks, power source, audio and visual warning block, defect marking block;
  • Install and test the system on steel production lines at enterprises and steel corporations in Vietnam in Hung Yen Industrial Park and evaluate and verify the operating parameters of the equipment at an independent inspection unit with inspection function.
