The project focuses on Research & Technology Development (R&D) and commercialization of collaborative robot products (also known as Cobot) with innovative & cost-effective solutions, especially proactively developing enabling technologies for the Industry 4.0 market. Cobot products and brands will be completely developed on the basis of technology sourced from Vietnam, with localization ability of over 80%, and prices 20-50% cheaper than similar products, especially for imported products, with equivalent features and load capacity. Vietnamese branded products, with the initial goal of serving the Vietnamese market, and gradually approaching the global market for cobots, are estimated to reach 12 billion USD by 2025, with an average Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) reaches 35-50% in the period 2017-2025. Collaborative Robot (or Cobot) is a robot that works and interacts with people in a shared space safely and reliably. Traditional robots are often designed to work automatically, with safety guaranteed by isolating contact with people (using or operating). Cobots are different from traditional robots in that they are designed with capability and safety so that users or operators can come into direct contact with cobots during work or use. Cobot technology and ecosystem are an important foundation for Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 solutions.
The project will deploy applied research, with innovative & cost-effective solutions, develop collaborative robots with the Viet-Cobot brand and build a smart ecosystem, with features and technical requirements that meet international standards, based on a robot technology platform successfully developed in Vietnam, and has been commercialized domestically and exported, has commercial capabilities on a global scale, with a combination of technology transfer between domestic and foreign cooperation partners, and the support of international experts.
The PI graduated from Machine Manufacturing from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, studying abroad in robotics at Korea University of Technology and Education, has over 10 years of experience in researching and developing research topics and projects on robotics and automation, creating products that have been serving domestic and foreign trade (exported to over 70 countries with industrial robots and intelligent machine elements), and have experience in implementing R&D projects and commercial projects at home and abroad (participated in 5+ R&D projects with total funding of at least 400 thousand USD in the last three years).
