VINIF.2020.DA12 – Research-develop a novel welding technology and design-manufature an automatic welding system for butt-joint of super thin sheets applying in frontier industrial fields

Urgency:

The research project on thin and ultra-thin sheet metal welding technology is one of the pioneering studies in Vietnam, as well as in the world today. In industrial production, more and more components, details, and parts are made from thin sheet metal, thus the demand of manufacturing enterprises is growing. However, thin and ultra-thin sheet welding technology is a significant challenge for researchers and welding equipment manufacturers. Therefore, the project’s research results on thin and ultra-thin plate welding technology will certainly create a technological breakthrough and contribute to supporting and promoting the development of the supporting industry in Vietnam today.

Objective of the project:

To research and master the technology of welding thin and ultra-thin sheet metals of homogeneous or heterogeneous materials. From there, we design and manufacture thin and ultra-thin sheet metal welding equipment (thickness up to 0.04mm) for application in automatic lines at manufacturing enterprises to improve production efficiency and competitiveness.

Economic and social efficiency: The thin and ultra-thin sheet metal welding equipment system is a research product of the project that, when applied in practice, will help businesses save time, materials, energy, etc. and contribute to improving production efficiency and competitiveness. In addition, the project’s research results, when published, will be a reference source for scientists and university students.

After being accepted for completion in 2022, the Project has decided to commercialize technology and solutions through Dreamweldtech Company, aiming to research, design, manufacture and mass-produce new generation welding robots serving industries to weld rolls of materials with thin and ultra-thin thickness. Dreamweldtech company represents the dream and desire for a new welding technology to solve the most difficult challenge in the welding process of very thin and ultra-thin sheet metals.

The Project Team was also fortunate to receive millions of USD investment from angel investors from Vietnam, the UK and the United States. In addition, Dreamweldtech company also attracted the attention of a number of reputable venture capital funds in the United States in the next round of capital calling.
